As a local high school math teacher I understand the importance of a strong education and solid fundamentals.  With college admissions getting more competitive by the day, it is essential that your children stay ahead of the curve and do not fall behind.  Unfortunately, classroom time is limited and students require extra attention….and that is where tutoring becomes essential.

The most important thing our tutors bring to each student is self-confidence. As a math teacher, I have seen many students arrive in September with a lack of confidence in their skills.  Whether this is due to poor teaching in the past, or the fact that math is not their strongest subject, this lack of confidence can often be a self-fulfilling prophecy.  When a student believes he or she is “not good at math” they are less engaged in the classroom and therefore continue to fall behind on the lessons.  When a student falls behind in school (especially in math), it becomes increasingly difficult for them to catch up.  However, I have also seen what a difference one-on-one help can make for those students who are lacking in confidence.  Once their confidence is boosted, they are more attentive in class, more willing to ask questions and as a result, more successful. 

Soon, the self-fulfilling prophecy goes from “I can’t” to “I can”.
